Did you know that a fourth of adults, age 65 or older, in the U.S. have lost most of their teeth? virginia beach denturesTooth loss is a common problem as you combat tooth decay, gum disease and weak tooth structure. It’s a myth that age causes teeth to fall out. Tooth loss results from bad oral hygiene, trauma or other oral health related factors. When you are missing a few teeth, you feel like you need to hide your smile from others. At our dental office, we want all of our patients to have something to smile about, which is why we offer restorative treatments, such as partial dentures. Here are eight reasons why partial dentures will turn your frown upside down!
  • Decrease risk of gum disease
  • Ease the stress of your jaw
  • Newly improved bite, without missing teeth, makes it easier to eat
  • Talk without worrying
  • Unveil a confident and happy smile to your friends and family
  • Re-establish a youthful appearance
  • Establish better facial structure with restorative treatments
  • Stop other teeth from shifting
Patients will truly appreciate their newly restored smile. Get dentures in Virginia Beach from your Virginia Beach dentist, Dr. Randal Furman.

How are you benefiting from partial dentures? Let us know in the comments! We love to hear from our readers and perspective patients.

As people age, so do their teeth. It is natural, but what is fascinating is the fact that our history is dental examswritten in our teeth. Our teeth change as we get older, and permanent teeth are exposed to many different foods and drinks over the years. Every six months you schedule a regular dental appointment, so we can evaluate your oral health. In most cases, the health of your teeth tells a lot about your diet.

Cavities
Cavities occur because of decay. The tiny holes dentists find in your teeth let us know what you might be eating. Without proper oral hygiene, sugary and acidic foods will remain on your teeth and ferment, causing your mouth to produce more bacteria and acid. Sugar and acid wears down the enamel, so tiny holes can open up for decay to form.

Cracks and chips
We have teeth so we can tear, chew and break down food for digestion. Hard foods can easily cause cracks and chips in a tooth. Be careful not to chew on ice, popcorn kernels and hard candies—these can do a lot of damage. As we get older, studies have confirmed that dentin and enamel get thinner. Years of biting and chewing leave traces of dental issues.

As we age…
Our teeth follow suit. In some cases, teeth need to be removed and replaced by dental implants or dentures. In Virginia Beach, dentures, veneers and emergency dentistry are services that our practice offers. And many patients are happy with their restorative procedure. We can help restore a smile worn by time.
